Otto Neurath was an Austrian sociologist and philosopher of science, Marxists and Socialist He had dreams of a money less economy. His work dealt with the scientific method and visual education.

How He Saw It

He viewed Marxism as a type of science, and science as a tool for social change. He looked to simplify information in order to share it with people to create change. His truth in life came from scientific facts.

Plan For Change

He created the Isotype and used this visual system to convey complicated social and economic facts to a largely uneducated Viennese public. The Pictogram was a striking symbolic way of representing quantitative information via easily interpretable icons.
